Friday
Overnight flight to Iceland
Travelers from North America leave for Iceland on an overnight flight with an early morning arrival at Keflavik Airport in Iceland.
Saturday
Welcome to Iceland!
You’ll have a ticket for the Flybus shuttle. Tell the driver you are going to Reykjavik Domestic Airport.
Off to Greenland
You’ll have a mid morning flight to Kulusuk, it's a two hour flight with in-flight meal. Upon landing you’ll have a short helicopter ride to Ammassallik, where you’ll be met by your guide, who will then take you to your guesthouse for check-in and an informational meeting. Outfitter will take you shopping for groceries and supplies. This is a self catering holiday -- you will cook most of your own meals in the outfitters guesthouse, where you will stay most nights. The local guide will be helpful to get to know a bit about the little village and its services.
Sunday
Transfer to outskirts of Tasiilaq.
Today you’ll enjoy a dog sledge ride to Tinitegilaaq which lasts about 6-8 hours. You’ll warm up with a packed lunch on the way!
Your afternoon will be spent exploring this small village. Includes breakfast, packed lunch, and dinner with a local family. Overnight in a local hut in sleeping bags.
Monday
After breakfast you’ll return to Tasillaq by dog sledge over the glaciers and snowfields of Ammassalik Island. You arrive in Tasiilaq late afternoon. Includes breakfast & packed lunch. You’ll cook your own dinner and stay in the outfitter’s guesthouse.
Tuesday
Leisure Day
After breakfast you’ll be on your own. You can book some optional tours. Today includes breakfast, lunch and dinner on your own. Overnight guesthouse.
Optional Tours
Ice fishing
From the middle of December when the ice begins to cover the fjords in Ammassalik there is ice fishing here. It is a great fishing area for halibut and every year this area attracts many local hunters. You’ll join a local fisherman for an Ice fishing trip where you’ll get to know the old hunting skills of east Greenland, and hopefully get lucky with the first catch of the year in these ice filled waters.
4 hours, Price: DKK 600 (about $100)
Snow hike
During winter the flower valley is covered with snow, and this gives us the perfect opportunity to try a real snow shoe hike in the outskirts of Tasiilaq. Wander though the snow and after about an hour you reach the frozen lake. After a cup of coffee or tea you’ll head back towards town.
Snow shoes included in the price.
2-3 hours, Price: DKK 400 (about $67)
Snow mobile excursion
Full day excursion on snow mobile around the Ammasalik area. Weather conditions will affect the final route, but you will cross the island’s mountains and enjoy the amazing view of the ice filled sea. At one of these viewpoints you will set up your small barbeque grill, and prepare for a nice homemade lunch before returning to Tasiilaq.
6 hours, Price: DKK 1400 per person (about $235) - for two persons on a snow mobile (total 2800) (about $470)
Wednesday
After breakfast and check out, you’ll be transferred to the heliport for the helicopter flight to Kulusuk and early afternoon, the return flight to Reykjavik, with lunch on the plane. You’ll need to take a cab to your hotel and then you can settle in. This might be a good night to sample some of Iceland’s more upscale restaurants, and if you're hardy, some of its famous nightlife.
Thursday
Farewell Iceland
Today the flybus will pick you up at your hotel for transfer to Keflavik airport for your flight home.

The 6 day/5 night East Greenland Eskimo tour departs the US on Fridays, with an arrival on Saturdays in Iceland, and then transfer to Greenland that day. Runs through the next Thursday, from March 16-April 20. Unlike most of our tours, this one is priced as land only, but we can also add international air from North America to Iceland. - just ask about pricing. Like all of our tours, it can be added on to any other Iceland Adventure!
The Price for this land only (the flights from Iceland to Greenland and the helicopter tarnsfers are considered part of the land arrangements and the price includes them) 6 day/5 night Eskimo tour in sleeping bag accommodations in Greenland and a comfortable 3 star hotel in Reykjavik in a very convenient location is $3011 per person, double occupancy or $3058 single.
