Monday:
First stop, Iceland!
Travelers from North America leave for Iceland on an overnight flight with an early morning arrival at Keflavik Airport in Iceland.

Tuesday:
Reykjavík - Narsasuaq
After an early arrival at Iceland’s Keflavik airport you’ll use your Flybus vouchers to go to Reyjkaviks domestic airport to catch
the Air Iceland flight to Narsarsuaq. Once landed you’ll be in the care of guides from Arctic Adventure. They’ll get you between the airport and hotel, and you’ll have an information meeting, in which they will help you decide upon and book the optional excursions.

Because weather controls so much of what happens in Greenland, the day tours are booked, and paid for, once you are in Greenland.

Narsarsuaq:
Eric the Red’s Viking Ruins

Boat across Ericsfjord to the sheep breeding settlement Qassiarsuk, situated on the very spot where Eric the Red in year 985 settled on his farm "Brattahlid". Historical ruins of Eric's Farm and an Eskimo settlement offer an unusual glimpse into Greenland’s past. Lasts about 3 hours; Price per person: DKK 450

Qooroq Ice Fiord
The Greenland Ice Cap produces 250 million tons of icebergs every summer. . This cruise goes between the icebergs towards the Qooroq Glacier You may get an opportunity to turn the boat engine off to take in the amazing stillness of this environment. Lasts about 3 hours; Price: DKK 475 (including refreshment)

Village walk
Guided drive through Narsarsuaq where the you’ll hear about daily life of the village, see various parts of the community, and the exciting history of the airport. Entry to the local museum also included. Lasts about 2 hours; Price per person: DKK 150

By Helicopter to the Ice Cap
Fly to Bredefiord, with a ground stop along the way to enjoy the sight of the Ice filled fiord and the Inland Ice Cap.
Operation depends upon the weather and helicopter capacity. Min. 15 participants. Only to be booked locally! Lasts about 1 hour Price: DKK 1700

Wednesday:
Narsasuaq - Alluitsup Paa
After breakfast at your hotel, y9ou’ll transfer to the airport for a helicopter ride to Alluitsup Paa. Check in at your hotel and then set out for optional excursions.

Next two nights at Hotel Seaside Whale with breakfast every day.

The Hot Springs of Uunartoq and Lichtenau
Boat to the island of Uunartoq to soak in Greenlands only geothermal hot spring - while enjoying the view of icebergs slowly floating by in the nearby fiord. There’s also an old Eskimo settlement and interesting ruins. Continue cruising through the fiord and visiting colorful settlement Lichtenau - a deserted missionary station . Lasts about 7 hours, Price DKK 1100 including packed lunch

Village Walk Alluitsup Paa
The cosy fishing village of Alluitsup Paa surrounded by steep mountains is uniquely situated in South Greenland. Your guide will tell you lots of history and stories as you have a leisurely walk through the village

Home Visit Alluitsup Paa
Visit a Greenland home, enjoy the traditional "Coffee-Mik" and a chance to learn about Greenland and its people.

Friday:
After breakfast you’ll be taken to the pier where you’ll board a boat from Alluitsup Paa via Qaqortoq where there will be a short visit to see the town, with it’s old Dutch buildings and the Man & Stone” art project. The boat will then take you on to Narsaq. Here you’ll go to your hotel to check-in for the next four nights, and where you’ll have an information meeting with your Arctic Adventure guides, to discuss your time here.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday:
Each day will start with breakfast at the Restaurant Klara and then you can chose among the many different ways to explore and enjoy this interesting area. You’ll have dinner back at the Restaurant Klara

Day touring options, Narsaq
City walk Narsaq
Your guide will tell you about the daily life in Narsaq, as you stroll through it’s little streets. You’ll see the new harbor with it’s fishing boats, as well as the old kayak harbor, where local hunters still bring in seals. You’ll visit a local stores and the local hunting market "Brædtet" show how the old way of life still is existing alongside the modern way of life. Lasts about 5 hours
DKK 350 with lunch and museum entry.

Easy hike on the Dyrnæs Peninsula
A leisurely hike with a visit to a non-excavated Viking ruin, remains from the Eskimos as well as beautiful Arctic scenery. Suitable for nearly everyone. Lasts about 3 hours, Price: DKK 250

By boat to the Inland Ice Cap
Cruise northwest across the ice filled Bredefiord to the fiords leading up to the impressive Twin Glaciers. Here you can enjoy a packed lunch on rocks emerging from the glacier front wall of the glacier. Then continue into another fiord with bird's cliffs and a big waterfall before returning to Narsaq after about 6-7 hours . Price is DKK 1000 including lunch

Hike the Dyrnæs Peninsula and Kvanefjeld
Walk up along the Narsaq river to the geologically unusual area around the Kvanfjeld. You might find the rare gem stone Tugtupit only to be found in this area and in a small part of Siberia. The Arctic scenery is quite amazing! Lasts about 5-6 hours Price DKK 400 with packed lunch

Half day by boat to Eskimo ruins
Cruise across the Narsaq sund among the numerous icebergs to a natural harbor. Here you can go ashore to see the ruins of Eskimo turf houses and some "jumping stones" - a popular game in the old Eskimo world. Lasts 3 hours Price: DKK 450

Tuesday:
Breakfast at the Restaurant Klara then head to Narsaq harbor where you’ll get on a boat through the icefilled Eric's Fiord to Narsarsuaq. Once there you’ll be taken to the airport, for your Air Iceland flight that leaves at 315 PM, arriving at Reykjavík Domestic Airport at 715 PM. From here you’ll need to take a cab to your hotel for a last night in Iceland. It might be a good night to try some of Icelands many fine restaurants, and even some night life -- if you’re daring!! Ask your hotel to schedule a pick up by the Flybus for your departure day.

Wednesday:
After breakfast at your hotel you'll have a long morning to check out, relax, see a bit more of Reykjavik. Ask the front desk to arrange for the Flybus shuttle to pick you up in time for your flight. There are also day tours which offer some sight-seeing, followed by a late afternoon drop off at Keflavik Airport in time for your return flight back home. .

Hotel Narsasuaq
Hotel Narsarsuaq is a modern and well-equipped hotel with 56 superior double and single rooms, all nicely equipped with TV, mini bar, hair dryer and a great view. There’s an excellent restaurant, with bar, a shop to buy locally produced crafts and souvenirs as a sauna and small gym.

The restaurant offer a varied buffet or traditional Greenlandic products such as salmon, seal, whale, prawns and of course lamb, the national dish of South Greenland. The popular western menu with steak and beef etc. is also at hand. It will satisfy the needs of not only traditional tourists but also incentive travellers or any conference held by your company. The real star of the show, of course, is the Greenlandic setting -- lush soft fields, backed by mountains, icy fjords and the massive Inland Ice Cap.

Alluitsup Paa

Located 1 1/2 km from the heliport and 500 m from the centre of the village. This little hotel has 5 rooms with private facilities and TV.
There is a Laundry service and restaurant at Hotel Qaannivik 500 m away.

The Hotel Narsaq Group has several m in this town of 1700 -- and their motto is We make sure your stay in Narsaq something special! Guests at Hotel Perlen have the unique natural beauty of South Greenland right at their doorstep. The Hotel is located right at the head of a trail leading into Dyrnaes valley.

Gedebakken
A small residence with 5 apartments with private facilities each with a small kitchen It’s on the hill with view of the town, the fiord and to the icecap.
Guests are invited to use the Internet connection at Hotel Narsaq - and dinner and breakfast is served there as well - transfer between the hotel and restaurant is provided.

The Grand tour of South Greenland runs from Reykjavik every Tuesday from July 8-19 Aug.

The price for The Grand Tour of South Greenland is $4642* per person, double occupancy for the dates between 8 July and 19 August. *Not included in the price are US departure taxes and fees which will run around $92 per person.
A single room in will cost $5320* per person.
*Price includes round trip airfare to Iceland , including fuel surcharge, from Boston, New York, Minneapolis, or Orlando (ask about prices from Toronto, Halifax and Europe), all airport transfers, flights to and from Greenland with those departure taxes included, airport transfers, hotels with private baths, breakfast and dinner every day, English speaking guides.
*Not included in the price are US departure taxes and fees of about $85, meals other than breakfast, optional tours or excursions in Iceland and Greenland.

An important note for travelers going to Greenland from Iceland. Flying is the only way to travel in Greenland. The aircraft that serve Greenland fly from one remote area to another and any delays at one airport is telegraphed through the system. You cannot schedule a trip from Greenland back to Iceland on the same day that you are scheduled to leave Iceland. All of our multi-day tours in Greenland include the needed overnight accommodations in Iceland.
